The Mamata Banerjee-led state government on Thursday presented its last interim budget ahead of the assembly elections, with a series of announcements aimed at the general public, employees, youth, and social service workers. The budget was presented in the Assembly by State Finance Minister Chandrima Bhattacharya.
The key highlight of the budget was the introduction of a new allowance scheme for unemployed secondary-level youth named “Bangla Yuva Sathi.” Under the scheme, unemployed youth aged between 21 and 40 years will receive ₹1,500 per month. The allowance will come into effect from August 15 and can be availed for a maximum period of five years.
